Rip Michels Racing and Stock Building
Supply are proud to announce the 4th annual Stock Building Supply Home
Improvement Show this coming Saturday, August 1, 2009 at the Toyota
Speedway in Irwindale, California.
Stock Building Supply has been a supporter of West Coast racing for
over 11 years. Not only is Stock sponsoring the Twin 50 lap races,
they will also be conducting a spectacular home improvement show. The
Home Show will featuring displays from many of the nation’s largest
manufacturers and distributors of the top brand name power tools,
windows, doors, decking, siding, fasteners, connectors, paint, and
more.
The Stock Building Supply Home Improvement Show will be the prelude
to a great night of Nascar Super Late Model professional stock car
racing at Toyota Speedway this coming Saturday night. The home
improvement show runs from 4:00PM to 7:30PM. There will be an on-track
autograph session at 5:30PM with all the stars of the Nascar Super
Late Model Series, and racing starts at 7:00PM.
Rip Michels, the all time win leader with 58 victories, will be
looking to capitalize on the team’s hard work which led them to their
first victory of the 2009 season two weeks ago. A victory which made
Rip Michels the only driver in the 11 year history of Toyota Speedway
to have at least one victory every year.
The Team:
“This year has been a struggle for us”, said Tire Specialist, Chris
Lazalde. “We only raced twice last year, so we have falling a little
behind on the set up. However, the last two races we hit on something,
and I think we will be fighting hard for the wins the rest of the
season.” The team would like to welcome two new crew members, Big
Brad, and Noah James Medlin, who is 5 weeks old, and the son of Team
Manager Michael Medlin.
The Driver’s Corner:
“Getting that win last race was really huge for the team,” said Rip
Michels. “I was really wondering if I would ever win again, but the
hard work has paid off. I am getting my motivation these days by Mark
Martin, and Ron Hornaday. I felt if they could do it at 50+, I should
be just getting warmed up at 44. Those guys are making old cool again.
In fact, I am calling Joe Gibbs next week, I hear they are looking for
older guys now. Problem is I might be too young,” commented Rip.
