Stock Building Supply and Rip Michels Racing, Inc. are proud to
announce a multiple race deal for the upcoming 2008 season.
Celebrating their fifth year as marketing partners, Rip and the team
will be again be competing with the STOCK #12 racecar.
The races will consist of at least three races in the Flashco SRL
Southwest Tour Series. Stock Building Supply will be sponsoring a
three-race deal designated as the “Stock Building Supply Challenge.”
It will be a series within a series, with a bonus being awarded to the
driver who has the best overall performance in all three races.
Rip & the Stock Building Supply racing team will start off their
2008 campaign at their home track, and newly named, Toyota Speedway at
Irwindale for the Stock Building Supply, Andersen Windows Series 100
event on April 26, 2008. This will also be round one of the Stock
Building Supply Challenge, and the Inaugural event for the Flashco SRL
southwest series at the famed half mile.
“I have to admit that without Rick Smith, Stock Building Supply,
Andersen Windows, and all the Home Show vendors, this event wouldn’t
have happened. STOCK has always been a big supporter of tour racing
and has sponsored cars and events for over 10 years. The SRL series at
Irwindale was truly the only racecars they wanted for the Home Show,
and they sponsored the entire event,” commented Rip Michels.
Rip and the Stock Building Supply Racing team will also be running
a limited schedule of five races in the Super Late Models division at
Irwindale. They will use these races as a test session to prepare for
the NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdownon Jan 23, 2009, which will again
be hosted at the Toyota Speeday at Irwindale, and featured live on
Speed Channel.
“The limited schedule really fits in with our teams plans for this
year. We are working with Dan Moore in the Super Late Model Division
at Irwindale to try and get him a championship, we also have a
development driver in one of our cars for a few races at Irwindale,
and we have been doing a lot of R & D instead of racing. This will pay
off in the future for all our racecars,” said Crew Chief John Schuetze,
Jr.
