Rip Michels and his Stock Building
Supply/Ladco Racing/Victory Circle Chassis Chevrolet Monte Carlo
racing team will swing back into action this weekend to compete in
the “NARI Records 125 presented by BECCA” at Shasta Raceway Park
in Anderson, California.
This will be the second visit for Rip and the team at this track.
Last year Rip lead a race high 84 laps in route to a second place
finish. The team is looking to rebound after their disappointing
24th place finish at
Meridian Speedway in Idaho, and feel that this is a track they can
turn things around. “We really had a great time at this track last
year,” commented Tire Specialist, Michael Sprague. “We were really
competitive and George Wade and his staff all made us feel more
than welcome. They had an excellent Barbeque on Friday night and I
hear that they are going to do even more for us this time around,
I can’t wait.”
The Team:
“Before Meridian, we had 6 consecutive finishes in the top
ten,” said Crew Chief, John Schuetze Jr. “After the race we drove
all night and got back to the shop on Monday morning. We knew that
this car had to be fixed for this race in Shasta. I’d like to
thank the crew members, especially our body man, Boyd “Chip” Brown
Jr., for all their hard work in getting the car race ready for
this weekend.”
The Drivers Corner:
“This track is really fun to race, even though it is a short
track, you can pass here,” said Rip Michels. “You have to have
patience, and a lot of finesse at this track, and not overdrive
the corners. It is a rough track with a couple of bumps that you
have to position your car perfectly on so you will not upset the
car. We had a great run last time we were here, and we look
forward to competing on this track.”
The Car: Destiny
This car sustained heavy body damage two weeks ago. Every body
part on the car minus the left front fender and left side door had
to be replaced. This is the same car that finished second here
last September at this race, and had a string of six top ten
finishes.
The Road That Leads To The Showdown:
The Invitational Only Toyota All-Star Showdown is a race that
brings together the Top Ten in points at season’s end, from each
of the four Elite divisions of NASCAR from across the country. The
top 40 teams will compete against each other in a nationally
televised race from Irwindale Speedway. In
the chase for the exclusive invitational only race that will be
tentatively held in October of 2006, Rip Michels currently sits
5th in the points, 25 points out of first.
The Race:
The “NARI Records 125 presented by BECCA” race at the 3/8 mile
oval located in Anderson, California. Practice starts at 1:30PM
with qualifying at 5:00PM. The race is scheduled to start at
8:30PM. For more information about tickets or the track, please
