Race #5
Update: Colorado National Speedway |
The crew took the long 20+ hour
trip to Denver, CO. with high hopes. The team felt that they had
hit on a set up for the car that would put them in contention to
win its first race. Unfortunately, mother nature had other plans.
The race was to take place on Saturday, but a full day of rain
resulted in the race being cancelled until Sunday.
The team unloaded the car on Sunday and was the third fastest car in the
morning practices. The team then was dealt a major set back when a
mechanical parts failure, eliminated Rip and the team from the
competition. "We were really looking forward to this race," said
Rip. We ran second here last year and had a tire problem that
resulted in us finishing 18th. We were looking forward to
redeeming ourselves with a solid performance. The part failure
ended all of our hopes. It was a very long, quiet, trip home."
commented Rip.
The team's next race will be at Irwindale Speedway located in Irwindale,
California on June 18, 2005. Rip and the Stock Building
Supply/Ladco Racing/Victory Circle Chevrolet remained 13th in the
points. They are now 236 points out of first.
