Rip Michels and his Stock
Building Supply/Ladco Racing/ Victory Circle Chassis/ Chevrolet
racing team will be heading to the famed Stockton 99 Speedway
located in Stockton, Ca. this coming weekend. This will be round
eight of the NASCAR AutoZone Elite Southwest Division Series. Rip
has a total of three career starts at Stockton 99, with a 4th
place finish in 2004 as his best result.
The Team:
The team heads into Stockton 99 with a lot of momentum after their
very successful weekend at Irwindale Speedway, which saw Rip,
capture his 40th and 41st career victories. The team is looking
forward to expanding on that success.
“The team is really pumped up for this weekend,” said Chris Lazarde,
mechanic, “We feel like those wins will give us the boost in the
arm to get us through the next four weeks of racing.”
The Drivers Corner:
This will be Rip’s second start of the season at Stockton 99
Speedway. He finished 7th back in April. “Stockton 99 Speedway is
a very difficult track to race on,” said Rip, “It leaves you very
little room for mistakes. With turns one and two completely flat
and three and four banked, you really have to be careful not to
overdrive turns one and two, and under-drive three and four. A
driver has to maintain complete focus all the time, you seem like
you are always in a corner.”
The Car: Destiny
This car, also known as chassis “D”, was built in 2004 from the
great people at Victory Circle Chassis. It had three starts in
2004, with two finishes of 8th place, and one 2nd place finish. It
has had three starts this year with finishes of 11th, 7th, and
12th. Chassis Destiny is looking for its first top 5 of the season
this coming weekend
The Road That Leads To The Showdown:
The Invitational Only Toyota All-Star Showdown is a race that
brings together the Top Ten in points at season end, from each of
the four Elite divisions of NASCAR from across the country. The
top 40 teams will compete against each other in a nationally
televised race from Irwindale Speedway, in the chase for the
exclusive invitational only race that will be held on November 10,
2005 at Irwindale Speedway. Rip Michels currently sits 10th in the
points, 251 points behind first, and 58 points in front of 11th.
