Rip Michels and his Stock
Building Supply/Ladco Racing/Victory Circle Chassis Chevrolet
racing team will be heading home this Saturday night to compete in
the “Stock Building Supply Southwest Series 150 and Home
Improvement Show” at Irwindale Speedway. This will be race number
11 for the NASCAR AutoZone Elite Southwest Division.
This race will cap off 5 straight weeks of races in a row for the
team. They have spent the last two weeks in the great state of
Colorado, and are really excited to be coming home. “We are really
excited to be home,” said Team Manager Michael Medlin. “Since all
of our guys have full time jobs, these past two weeks have been a
logistical nightmare for everybody. I know that some of our guys
have not seen their homes or their own beds in weeks, so it in
nice to be home. I know that the guys on the team are really
excited about this coming weekend’s race. Since our great sponsor,
Stock Building Supply, is sponsoring the race, the team has extra
motivation for picking up its first career win in this very
competitive series.”
The Team:
“All of the guys on this team have giving all that they can give
these past 5 weeks,” said Crew Chief John Schuetze. “Tempers have
been short, but we have all persevered. I know that I am glad to
see that our home track of Irwindale is the last race of our 5
straight races. This race is a huge deal for our sponsor, Stock
building Supply, and us. The team left Colorado on Saturday night
immediately after the race to get back to California to prepare
for this race. The team drove 20 straight hours to get home, that
is what I call dedication.”
The Drivers Corner:
Rip is the all time win leader at Irwindale Speedway with 41
victories. His last visit to Irwindale was on July 9, 2005 in the
Super Late Model Division, where Rip captured his 40th and 41st
victories.
“This coming weekend’s race may be one of the most important races
I have ever had,” said Rip. “With our sponsor Stock building
Supply sponsoring the race, not to mention all the hard work the
Director of Motorsports Operations, Rick Smith and his associates
have done to bring this unique Home Improvement Show to Irwindale
Speedway. I know that the guys on the team have given all they can
to be successful in this race. So I want to make sure I give all I
can as a driver. Stock Building Supply is a great sponsor and has
done so much for not only this team, but for the Nascar AutoZone
Elite Division series. Not only do they sponsor a race, but they
also give to all the fans by putting together an awesome Home
Improvement show.
The Car: Fiona
This car has had an up and down season, with finishes of 41st,
3rd, 29th, and 8th. Although some of the finishes have not been
that great, the car has been fast everywhere. It captured the Bud
Pole at Colorado National Speedway last weekend. It finished third
at Irwindale Speedway back on June 18th.
The Road That Leads To The
Showdown:
The Invitational Only Toyota All-Star Showdown is a race that
brings together the Top Ten in points at season end, from each of
the four Elite divisions of NASCAR from across the country. The
top 40 teams will compete against each other in a nationally
televised race from Irwindale Speedway, in the chase for the
exclusive invitational only race that will be held on November 10,
2005 at Irwindale Speedway. Rip Michels currently sits 9th in the
points, 393 points behind first, and 84 points in front of 11th.
The Race: “The Stock Building Supply Southwest 150 and Home
Improvement Show”
A spectacular home improvement show featuring
displays from many of the nation’s largest manufacturers and
distributors of the top brand name power tools, windows, doors,
decking, siding, fasteners, connectors, paint, and more, will be
the prelude to a great night of NASCAR professional stock car
racing at Irwindale Speedway on Saturday night, August 6 from 4PM
to 7:30PM.
Stock Building Supply has become the largest supplier of building
materials to professionals in the United States, growing at a
remarkable pace with over 249 locations in 29 states with sales
exceeding $2.7 billion a year.
Stock’s growth, through the purchase of venerable old lumber
companies and the construction of new locations, has helped them
to develop a true national presence in the building supply
business. Combining under the name Stock Building Supply, both old
and new businesses continue to provide quality materials, fair
prices and superior service.
Fans are reminded that the spectator gates open at 4:00PM, and the
home show runs from 4:00PM to 7:30PM. There will be an On-Track
autograph session at 5:30PM with all the stars of the NASCAR
Southwest Series and racing starts at 7:00PM.
