Point standings (Presented By Dodge) with
his 6th win, 11 top "5" and 12 top "10" in 15 starts.
"The competition has been very stout at Irwindale this season" said
Rip. "Anything can happen, We feel bad for what Tony Green experienced
last Saturday and we know we could very well suffer the same fate" Rip
was commenting on last weeks point leader Tony Green who had be leading
the points since the start of the season until a tire blew causing him
to hit the wall in the first 50 lap race. He was unable to make the
second 50 lap race.
" This has been a dream season for me" said Rip. "We have put
together a perfect combination of Car Owner, Team, Chassis, Motors, and
Sponsors" "I could not be more happy about our success so far this
season". Rip said. "This all could not have been possible if it weren’t
for my car owner Lee Ladd, crew chief Roger Theobald and the best crew
at Irwindale. John, Chris, Chip, Phil, John Jr and Laurie have worked so
hard to put me in this position."
He also said that he contributes a lot of this season’s success to
teaming up with West Coast’s legendary chassis builder Dave Jackson.
"When I went to see Dave, Tony, Matt and Mandy Jackson in December of
2001 I was in awe of the amount of championship caliber drivers that
have driven their cars" Said Rip. "Dave has a wall in his shop that I
call the championship wall. It is the who’s who of West Coast racers,
including Jim Thirketle, Jimmy Insilo, Jim Robinson, Ron Hornaday, and
Dan Press. I told Dave that I wanted my picture on that wall," Said Rip.
"I had been building my own stuff for years because of the
financial side of things" said Rip. "When I got the New 2002 Jackson
Race Car Chassis, I also got the 30 years of racing experience that came
with the car. Dave, Matt, and Tony have dedicated their entire lives to
racing. Their help to me and my team has been priceless".
2002 sponsors include Outlaw Brakes, M & R Engines, Hoopers Rear
Ends, Norris Racing Bodies, Radiator Works, Memory Lane, Works of Art
Johnson, and BCSportsimages
"I just want to go into these last four races with the same mind
set we have had all season long….get the WIN!" said Rip.
With his dedication and pure driving talent, it is hard to bet
against him.
