Michels to be powered by CMC racing engines
Coming off his dominating season in the
Grand American Modified division at Irwindale Speedway, Rip Michels is making the
transition to the ultra competitive Super Late Model division for 2001. Rip won an amazing
10 out of 12 races with an engine built and prepared by the folks at CMC Racing Engines.
When the decision was made to move up to the premier division at Irwindale with car owner
Lee Ladd, CMC Racing Engines was there 1st choice for power ! "CMC has a proven track
record in all forms of racing, especially there oval track combination which is second to
none" said Rip.CMC Racing Engines of
Chatsworth, CA. is a full service engine machine shop with state of the art machining and
dyno work all of which are done in house. There experience includes all forms of racing
dirt, asphalt, oval, drag and road coarse. The CMC house car won the 1999 super late model
track championship at Irwindale and finished 3rd in 2000.
The Super Late Model division at Irwindale Speedway
draws an unprecedented 35 to 45 cars per event and with only 28 of them advancing to the
main event. Making the race is a race in itself. " Having a CMC powerplant under the
hood I can concentrate on other things during the course of a race day, I know the
horsepower and reliability are there" said Rip. "Having veteran engine builders
like Ed, Roger and Brad trackside is a huge advantage for our team" exclaims Rip !
